Rate Increase notice

August 28, 2019

For Immediate Release, August 28, 2019:

Crescenta Valley Water District Water and Wastewater Rate Increases.

On August 27th the Crescenta Valley Water District (CVWD) Board of Directors adopted Water and Wastewater increases.   The Board conducted extensive deliberation regarding the water budget and rates over the past few months.  Previously, the Board voted to delay rate increases for over two months to re-notify all residents and allow time for homeowner, tenants, and other customers to file valid protest forms.

Following the Prop 218 meeting where the Board heard comments from members of the public, the CVWD Board voted 4 - 1 to approve a water rate increase of 7.0% increase and a wastewater rate increase of 4.0%.  Reduced water sales over the past five years coupled with decreased groundwater supplies resulted in reductions to water sales revenue and increased expenses.  A large part of CVWD’s budget is the Capital Improvement Programs (CIP).  These funds are necessary to engage in much needed infrastructure improvement projects.
